Hello, Beautiful...

Let me introduce you to the newest member of our family. As the sinister engine sounds and warning lights of our old car have been increasing over the last year, at about the same rate as its value has been decreasing, we've been casually shopping for a minivan to replace it. Every month or two we'd check the classifieds and Cars.com to see what was around in terms of year, make, mileage and price, but nothing impressed us enough to pounce.

Then last week out of the blue Ed checked online again and found one that had just been listed earlier that day. He called me immediately. The year was right, the stats were right, the price was right.

And the color was right. Do you know how rare it is to find a nice used black minivan for sale? It was the first black we'd seen for months in a 100 mile radius.

Mmm, rich dark shell:
With a light, creamy interior:
It's like it reminds me of something, I don't know. We were the first ones to call the guy. We looked at it that night and told him the next day we wanted it. A few days later when we transacted, he told us he'd had multiple other callers interested, offering to buy it on the spot.

And rightfully so. This thing is HOT. Luckily, I've never had a minivan complex like so many parents do. It's not the beginning or end of an era, unless you consider vehicular bliss an era. I love minivans, and now I love my minivan. And having a place to park it; I'm still not over that luxury. It's 7 years newer than our other car, and chock full of features I need to learn how to use. I am a willing student. So around here, we're sitting back. We're looking for excuses to drive somewhere.

And we're loving the ride.

Sweet ride. That is totally my dream car these days! Alas, I think I shall have to bare one more child before I'll be able to convince my Phil to give up la Prius. Boo.

If you're looking for a road trip, I hear Brooklyn is nice. ;)

Lindsay, no way, dude. You think I'm bringing those clean bumpers up there??? No chance. I do want to get back up there soon but it'll be via chinatown bus, or maybe even the old car, but not this beauty. It stays in the land of driveways and parking lots!

Hello-pardon me for invading your blog...I am one of Jen Driggs' college roommates. I was soliciting her for recipe ideas and she told me about your blog. I am going to try your crockpot chicken enchilada casserole this weekend...I couldn't find canned black beans at the store so I bought a bag of them instead. Any idea if I should cook those first? Or do you think the crock would take care of it? Seems like it ought to. Anyway, if you know, let me know on my blog please! If you don't, I'll just experiement!

I have total minivan envy over here. Sadly, I'm still in the process of convincing Adam that minvans are "cool." I'll be showing him this blog post tonight and car shopping afterward.

Congratulations! It's beautiful. Have you named it? Marie- we had that problem. I had to look at sooo many SUV's before we came to the conclusion that you can't fit a family of 6 AND their luggage in a Pilot! We ended up with a dark blue Odyssey. Good luck.
